Tobias Gutmann is an assistant professor at the EBS Business School in Germany,
where he is also Co-Head of the Institute for Technology, Innovation & Customer Centricity (TICC) and
Managing Director of the Siemens Product Innovation Lab.
Prior to his academic career, Tobias worked for almost 10 years at Siemens where he gained deep
insights into business development, strategy, innovation management and corporate venturing
(startup partnering, acceleration, incubation and corporate venture capital).
In his last role at Next47 (the global venture firm backed by Siemens), he operated internationally at
the cutting edge of innovation leading global growth projects for startups in a corporate venture capital
portfolio.
At the heart of his work are concerns around sustainable Technology and Innovation Management
with a special focus on corporate venturing, emerging technologies and new product development.
He is an internationally renowned keynote speaker, and supports company leaders and startups from
numerous industries worldwide in their strategy and innovation challenges.
He was visiting scholar at the Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and holds a Ph.D from the Dr. Ing.
h.c. F. Porsche AG Chair of Strategic Management and Digital Entrepreneurship at HHL Leipzig
Graduate School of Management, and further degrees in Electrical Engineering and Information and
International Management.
Moreover, he lived in Germany, Spain, Denmark, the UK and the U.S.A and is passionate about
innovation and technology.
